We Made Measuring Critical Thinking Simple
Critical thinking is essential for student success but notoriously difficult to assess. Traditional scoring is time-consuming, inconsistent, and often subjective. Peregrine’s Critical Thinking Assessment, developed in partnership with higher education leaders, changes that.
Designed for undergraduate and graduate programs in business and related disciplines, students respond to real-world scenarios that measure higher-order thinking skills across Bloom’s Taxonomy. Our validated rubrics and AI-scoring deliver reliable, consistent results so you can confidently demonstrate learning outcomes and target areas for growth.
This assessment complements the knowledge-based assessment by measuring how students apply, analyze, and synthesize information, not just what they know.
Validated rubrics and AI models deliver objective results you can trust and share with accreditors, while saving faculty time and effort.
Aligned with Accreditor Priorities
Consistent and Clear
Each assessment includes randomized scenarios aligned to your selected topics, such as Communication, Leadership, Ethics, Business Integration & Strategic Management, and Global Dimensions of Business. Every scenario includes:
- 6 multiple-choice questions to measure foundational understanding and application
- 4 short-answer questions to assess analysis, synthesis, and judgment
Multiple-choice items are scored automatically. Short-answer responses are evaluated by AI using validated rubrics. Faculty can review, adjust scores, and access justification narratives to ensure transparency and control.

When You Can Measure, You Can Improve
With Peregrine’s Critical Thinking Assessment, you gain clear, actionable insights into how students analyze, evaluate, and apply information. Your reports include:
- Overall performance by topic and question type
- Scores by Bloom’s Taxonomy level to track higher-order thinking
- Rubric-based proficiency levels across key skill areas
- Cohort averages and distributions to benchmark progress over time
These comprehensive reports make it easy to pinpoint strengths and gaps, target curriculum improvements, and provide clear evidence of learning outcomes for accreditation reviews. All your data is available in one place and ready to download or share.
Measure Growth Over Time
To gain a complete picture of student development and learning, you have the option to deliver the assessment as both an entry (Inbound) and exit (Outbound) measure. This approach allows you to track critical thinking progress across a course sequence or entire program. If preferred, you can also administer the assessment as a single measure to align and map with your curriculum goals and formative measures
