Technical Support FAQs
General
These are general FAQs that apply to all of our services. For service-specific questions, please refer to the relevant FAQs: Exam Integrity Rules, Assessment, Academic Leveling Modules, Write & Cite, and Critical Thinking.
No. The exams use a forward‑only format, meaning you cannot return to earlier questions once they’re submitted. You may not “back track” or go back to a previous question to answer or change your answer. All questions must be answered in the order and the allotted time given. Unanswered questions will be graded as zero points.
Grading policies vary by school. Refer to your course syllabus or ask your instructor for clarification.
Please submit a support ticket if you need the exam or test reset due to extenuating circumstances or technical difficulties.
At the conclusion of the self-registration process, a hyperlinked exam or module name will be displayed. When you click the hyperlink, your web browser will open to the exam or module screen. If you do not begin the exam or module at the end of the self-registration process, you can access the exam or module by using the email sent to you upon completion of the self-registration process. This email contains a hyperlinked exam or module name to take you to the exam or module page, and can be used to re-access the exam or module if needed.
You are generally allowed 3 minutes to answer each question, some universities customize this to allow more or less. You will see the time remaining on the screen for each question during the exam/test. If you do not submit an answer within the timeframe, the question is scored as a zero, and the system will automatically move you to the next question.
The Academic Leveling Modules and Write & Cite are self-contained. No other resources or materials are necessary to complete them. You do not need to prepare for the pre-tests because they are meant to show you your baseline knowledge level and to help you focus your subsequent learning on weaker areas. Your completion of the module will prepare you for the post-test/competency exam.
After completing the exam/test, you will be asked to view and save your certificate. A link to download the completion certificate will also be automatically emailed to you. If you have forgotten to save your completion certificate, you may retrieve it by visiting our completion certificate retrieval page.

Exam Integrity Rules
Exam Integrity Rules are security measures designed to ensure that all students complete their online exams fairly and without the use of unauthorized resources. The system automatically monitors your activity during the exam window to protect the integrity of your results.
An integrity violation occurs when the system detects actions such as: Navigating outside of the Peregrine exam window. This means clicking outside of the Peregrine exam box that is embedded in your online course. Even if you are still clicking within the same screen, but outside of the exam boundaries, it will trigger a violation.
- Opening a new tab.
- Checking an email message.
- Viewing/dismissing a desktop notification.
- Selecting any windows/tabs/apps on another monitor/screen. These actions indicate that you may be accessing external content or leaving the secure exam environment.
You’ll receive a warning if it happens once and/or twice. On the third instance, the system automatically locks and forfeits your exam. Please be mindful to stay within the exam window at all times.
Possibly. When the exam is locked due to integrity violations, reinstatement is only allowed if a school administrator or program director formally requests it. Students cannot request a reset directly from Peregrine.
Assessment
No special preparation is required. Inbound exam (beginning of program): Measures your baseline knowledge. Outbound exam (end of program): Measures what you’ve learned through your courses. Your preparation comes from your educational experience throughout your program.
Breaks: Two 15-minute breaks are allowed. Use the option “Record Answer & Take a Break.” The exam will resume automatically. Extended exit: If you must leave for longer, use “Record Answer & Exit Exam.” This counts as one of your three logins. The exam must still be completed within 48 hours.
Academic Leveling Modules
No, every pre-test and post-test is unique, representing a random selection of questions from a large database.
Yes, the interactive instructional sections of the modules are available to the student for up to two years.
You may leave and access the module at your discretion. However, please refer to the previous question in regard to leaving during the exam/test.
Write & Cite®
You are generally allowed 5 minutes to answer each question, some universities customize this to allow more or less. You will see the time remaining on the screen for each question during the exam. If you do not submit an answer with the allotted time frame the system will record the answer as a zero and you will automatically moved to the next question.
